Footprints on the Heart is a compassionate non-profit organization dedicated to serving families who have experienced the heart-wrenching loss of a pregnancy or infant up to two years old. Co-founded by Khristie Staines after the devastating loss of her granddaughter, Natalie, the organization provides invaluable support during the most difficult times.

Khristie and her dedicated team offer numerous services, including helping to bathe and dress babies who have died, taking precious photographs for the families, and informing them of funeral arrangement options. They ensure that each family's needs are met while providing treasured keepsakes that honor their precious baby.
Serving six counties—Bartow, Floyd, Polk, Gordon, Whitfield, and Murray —in person, the organization is comprised of four board members, volunteers, and a handful of professional photographers. Khristie, who tirelessly performs the in-person services, is always on-call, often sacrificing her own holidays and family time to serve others. She embodies the true spirit of a sacrificial servant.
Footprints on the Heart has made a profound impact, serving over 100 families in 2024 alone. The organization provides peer support and services at no cost to the families, hospitals, and funeral homes they serve. When needed, they also offer online peer support and grief resources to bereaved families beyond their service area.
Every year, Footprints on the Heart hosts a sacred candlelight service for the families they've served and the community. This special event allows families to come together, be honored, and gain continued support following their loss.
One of the organization's biggest challenges is addressing the societal discomfort surrounding the death of a baby. This often leaves grieving families feeling isolated and can make fundraising difficult. However, Khristie remains steadfast in her mission, believing that "God always makes sure we have what we need in the moment.”
There are several ways to support Footprints on the Heart, including prayers, donations, and volunteering. Non-profit experience is especially valuable to help them continue their vital work.
